Röyksopp - What Else Is There (Thin White Duke Remix)
Spitz - Koi wa yuugure

Thanks to the identical chord progression, I'm unable to listen to the first without hearing the second. If I were the kind of person who taught myself to make mashups - but I'm not.

Will try and post annual seasonal music share soon.

In case I'm not the last person on lj to hear about the upcoming adaptation of John le Carré's Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (which I read about five times in junior high, just saying), see the cast. So... that'll be the next big kink meme, I take it. With even less characters of color than Inception!

This is old meme to everyone in Sherlock fandom. I know. Next time tell me these things early and I won't be forced to repeat them to you.

This post is really my way of saying no, I have not started my Yuletide fic, and yes, I have instead written 5500+ words of self-indulgent AU in the last week. More, actually, because every night I have also significantly rewritten at least one major chunk of the story thus far. Which is not how I usually operate. As I was saying to [livejournal.com profile] winterspel, gee, it would be great if some day I could actually repeat my process from one story to the next... Starting to reach the uncertainty threshold, at which point I will probably have to post an excerpt under lock, because this is shaping up to be way too long - and too dependent on plot - to deal with in a vacuum.

You and me? We are in the exact same [livejournal.com profile] yuletide boat. I also have [livejournal.com profile] jent_bigbang draft 1 due on the 18th (original deadline Dec 1!) that I um NEED TO START.

Good luck, yo. ;-;

*high five* It seems we're not the only ones, either. XD But I don't have [livejournal.com profile] jent_bigbang or anything like it, eek - good luck to you!

Oh, good, I haven't started yet either.

(Um, maybe that should be 'bad' instead of 'good', but er.)

Also, re: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, I hadn't heard about that yet. Of course, I haven't actually read the book so it might simply have not registered ... ^^;

Solidarity! *clasps your hands* Good luck to us...

Oh good, it wasn't just me. With such a giant pool of fandom favorites involved I was kind of surprised not to hear about it. Anyway, the book is great fun if you at all like intelligent espionage-type thrillers.

I AM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO TINKER TAILOR. aldjalda firth, oldman, hardy, cumberbatch, strong. IT IS LIKE MADE FOR ME *_* i just wish in the midst of the REALLY REALLY ATTRACTIVE MEN there were attractive men of colour and attractive women.

and ahaha, it is old meme in both sherlock and inception, i'm afraid. i heard about it in both fandoms a while ago XD (and tom hardy is in the next batman, but i assume you know that. there are people who don't even know who tom hardy is ie. my brother, who know that XD)

ah, yes, of course, I should have mentioned Inception as well. now that you mention Tom Hardy and Batman it seems to ring a bell, but I'd forgotten. ooh.

I've always felt bad for not reading Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy because I know it was one of my mum's favourite books.

It's not a great masterwork or anything, but it's quite intelligent for a thriller, and the tension and pacing is handled v. well without relying on cheap tricks a la Dan Brown. Le Carre is a fabulous storyteller all around. I'd like to reread it and see how it stands up to my tastes now.

aghhhh, [livejournal.com profile] yuletide. Do you have a story concept yet? I'm flying home next Friday & won't have internet access, so I keep staring at my computer trying to avoid a repeat of last year. (And no, I haven't started mine either. heh.)

I.... no. Augh. My recipient essentially wants general hijinks and those are easy for me so I'm using that as an excuse to... put it off farther. ahaha. ha. ha.

I like how this post has turned into a confessional for Yuletide writers who haven't started their stories. Ha.
