So it's late at night and I'm discussing my awful taste in music with [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf...

[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: next thing you know i'll be, like, listening to hikaru genji or something. this has gotta stop.
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: how many cool points will i lose if i say i've always wanted to hear them? XD
[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: i would say there's obviously a reason we're friends XD
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: HIGH FIVE
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: ... no one can ever know.

[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: oh god now i have winmx open
[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: this is your fault

This foray resulted in five songs and a medley performance of from NHK's Kohaku Uta Gassen in what appears to be around 1988. And it. It just. Defies words.

[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: *SHRIEKS*
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: OH MY GOD THAT IS THE GREATEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN
[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: ISN'T IT
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: ;KJDFHSLKDJFHNDKSFLHF
[livejournal.com profile] acchikocchi: ISN'T IT
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: BY GREATEST
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: I MEAN GAYEST
[livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf: AND 80S

I don't know how much more endorsement you need. XD They perform on roller skates. They wear sparkly feathery headbands. They do backflips on said roller skates. SMAP, as fresh-faced little juniors, are their backup dancers. THIS IS A PIECE OF JOHNNY'S HISTORY. You want - no, need to download it.

Hikaru Genji Hit Medley
Hikaru Genji song zip (Star Light, Glass no Juudai, Paradise Ginga, Diamond Hurricane, Yuuki 100%)

COME ON. YOU KNOW YOU WANT IT.

ETA: I TAKE IT BACK, THERE'S SOMETHING EVEN BETTER. Check the comments for [livejournal.com profile] ina's beautiful gift of their performance on a 1987 top ten show, where they roller skate in nothing but short denim shorts while the entire audience sings along at the top of their lungs. I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP.

Oh man, this stuff is addictive. I've been singing the beginning of "Glass no Juudai" to myself all. day. long. XD

I know in 1987, when they debuted, the youngest two were 14 (or about to turn 14) and the oldest was 19. So yeah, they were pretty young compared to, say, KAT-TUN.

And I finished what I was doing and am going to go read your fic right. now.

*goes*
