Aaaaand it's time for a little non-JE content here again. *g* Those of you who have been around for awhile have almost certainly heard me talk about Spitz (again and again and again); here is another of my favorites.
Spitz - Hanemono
hanemono

karamitsuita ito wo tachikitte
maku no soto ni tsuredashite yarou
sasayaite tokimeite
machi wo wataru hane no you na

nozomidoori no ikimono ni kawaru
sasayaite tokimeite
machi wo wataru hane no you na
omoidoori no ikimono ni kawaru
wings
goodbye, illusion
my fingertips begin to dance
homework left unfinished
the amazing direction of the wind, the chamomile-flavored stars
if you wipe away your tears
i'll cut the tangled thread
and take you outside the membrane
i whisper, i throb
i cross the town as if on wings
i turn into the creature i want to be
there's a pleasant ringing in my ears
even in the middle of a string of gibberish i find a sparkling destiny
the sun is shining against its own will
the story's begun
we're here
i'll go chasing after the turning seasons
and even as i fall it will feel good
i come near, i lift you up
i purr in my throat, like a kitten
i change into the creature i wish to be
i whisper, i throb
i cross the town as if on wings
i turn into the creature i want to be
(translation note: I chose to interpret ハネモノ as 羽物 instead of 撥ね物. I suppose you could make a case for either, but I felt this was more in line with the spirit of the song. see this is why Kusano Masamune is great; so many possible interpretations. ♥)

Date: 2007-09-18 03:25 pm (UTC)....yes, obviously I don't love them just for their looks. XD although Kusano was super cute when they first debuted (...at the beginning of the 90s cough). But since they're all pushing 40 now, what can you expect. It's their 20th anniversary this year. ^^;;;
(actually I went to one of the two 20th anniversary concerts while I was in Japan, it was A+++++ *____*)

Date: 2009-03-27 01:43 pm (UTC)How in the world Kusano-san thought of a chamomile-flavored star! Cute! Thanks for this.
By the way, which Spitz song is your most favorite among all?

Date: 2009-03-28 04:50 am (UTC)As for my favorite song... I like Hanemono a lot, but I think my favorite would probably have to be Yoru wo Kakeru. It was I think the second or third Spitz song I heard (Kaede was the first) and it was love at first listen. It's always one I use when trying to hook other people on Spitz and it generally works like a charm. :) I translated most of it a while ago but got kind of sidetracked -- the lyrics aren't easy to express in English! Which is part of what makes Kusano's songs so great, of course, but it makes sharing with other people harder. ;) What about you -- what's your favorite?

Date: 2009-03-28 06:55 am (UTC)Waaaa. We are the same! Yoru wo Kakeru is my all-time favorite Japanese song! Hachimitsu was my first heard though. I love Yoru wo Kakeru it makes me teary eyed always. And you're definitely true! Kusano-san uses a lot of metaphors I consider him a wonder boy :)) Honoho, Sazanami, Nagisa and Spider then completes my top5 most favorite Spitz songs.
As for me, I always introduce the band through Honey and Clover and it works like a charm also. Hihihi.
I wonder if there will be a time I can get enough of the band. >_

Date: 2009-03-29 05:07 am (UTC)Honey and Clover, of course! Talk about great integration of story and music. :) The scene with Mayama and Rika and Yoru wo Kakeru blew me away... and Takemoto's bicycle ride to Supika, at the end of the first season, was another great scene. :D I still haven't seen the second season, though I've read the manga so I know how it ends... but the manga isn't quite the same as seeing it on screen and getting the music, too. Maybe when I have free time coming up. :)

Date: 2009-03-30 06:18 am (UTC)Souvenir is my most favorite album then Sazanami CD then Mikazuki Rock. I love Hachimitsu and the others too though those 3 were the first ones I appreciated. Waaa bottomline, All of Spitz is heaven. <3
Wuhoo! That scene was unforgettable! I'll bet you'll love season 2 more! :) Honoho as an insert song for another MayamaXRika scene is lovely. :x:x
thanks!
