Recent comment exchange with [livejournal.com profile] rondaview re: David Silva prodded me to come back to this post I meant to make uh in May. the main thesis: David Silva Is Very Attractive, as illustrated by (mostly) recent pictures. Recent because I assume all interested parties have the older i.e. Valencia-era stuff; if that is not the case I am happy to make a second post. Also because he has been especially good-looking lately.

Needless to say, image heavy. Excuse the occasional tumblr user watermarks.

whoops this one's from valencia. deal with it.

this is like every fanfiction in my head ever.

my favorite part about this is gif is how he is subtly checking out whoever it is that walks past there.

the smile, you guys.

I FIND THE BACKWARDS CAP STUPIDLY ENDEARING OKAY. there is no hope for me.

if you thought the point of this was the outfit... you would be right.

why is this gif in here? BECAUSE I WAS THERE. will i ever get tired of mentioning this? PROBABLY NOT.

all right, this actually more about david villa than david silva. you caught me.

HE HAS, LIKE, ANIME HAIR. I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING.

SORRY. I didn't think to warn for transfer angst. D:

also, off-topic, but what are your thoughts on the Klinsmann thing? :o

naw, it's OK. It's just that Kolo particularly hurts, because he was so lovely and he seems to have gone off the rails entirely after leaving us. I mean, you don't want your favorites to be amazing after leaving your team, but you don't want them banned for drug offenses either. :/

oh mannnnnn. I mean, I'm only surprised because it seemed like Klinsmann becoming US boss was too obvious to happen, you know? Like it's been talked about so much it could never happen. Except now it has.

My worry is that, while he's got a lot of fantastic qualities, he's not so much of tactician, really, so I do want to see who he gets to help him for that. He crashed and burned hard at Bayern, but they've got such a weird culture there that it was kind of always going to happen. So, let's go with cautious optimism?

Yeah, it's been such a persistent possibility I sort of thought that if it were going to happen it already would have. I know all the speculation now is about who moderated their position, him or USSF... (Well, or more likely both.) Anyway, thank you, that's exactly what I was wondering about! :) I'll cross my fingers and watch with great curiosity.

Yes, it'll be worth watching. It could go either way. And definitely be interesting. (I have some Bike Thoughts, which are sort of rambling conversations with myself I have while on my bicycle, about how Klinsmann and Löw are basically each half a world-class manager. They don't function quite as well on their own. Löw can manage better on his own, but it's still not perfect.)

Ohhh, that makes sense. Hm. All right, given that, and as long as we're sort of on the subject - what's your guess for Germany's performance over the next three years? (It's one of life/fandom's ironies that though the Mannschaft are still ultimately first in my heart and loyalties, I'm a lot better suited to talk about Spain's prospects these days...)

I think they'll still do well- at least as well as they've been doing, which is placing in everything. I'm not sure whether they'll actually win one of the upcoming tournaments. Parts of the formula still feel somewhat shaky. Löw's weaknesses are in dealing with personel (including selection), and he's definitely not the motivator that Klinsmann is, which might be a problem in the final stages. And he's got a tendency to stick with favorites. But, on the other hand, they do repay him, and if some of the young defenders get integrated in correctly...
